The **Groundwater Country Music Festival** rolls back into Broadbeach on **16, 17 and 18 October 2026** for three days of country played across streets, parks, balconies and beachside venues. The 2025 edition pulled more than 60,000 people through the suburb, with an estimated economic impact above $15 million. 2026 is the thirteenth running. The whole thing is free.

For a guest staying on Fern Street, the geography is the part worth flagging. The Broadbeach festival precinct begins where Surfers Paradise gives way to Broadbeach, 450 metres south of the front door. There is no closer apartment building to the festival's northern stages without sleeping inside the precinct itself.

## What Groundwater is

Run by [Experience Gold Coast](https://corporate.experiencegoldcoast.com/) and supported by the Queensland Government. The format is unusual: instead of a single ticketed venue, the festival uses Broadbeach itself, with stages in parks, on the mall, along the boulevard, and inside a long list of bars and pubs. The 2025 program ran 14 stages with more than 40 artists; the 2026 lineup announces in the months before October. The [official site](https://groundwatercmf.com/) and the festival app carry the live program, precinct map and stage-by-stage schedule.

It's a daytime-and-evening festival rather than a single-block-of-hours headline show. Stages run in parallel; you walk between them. Line dancing on the Beach Deck, country cocktails on the mall, a bluegrass breakfast, and the Farm Angels charity tent at Kurrawa Park sit alongside the music. Family-friendly is a real claim here, not a marketing one.

## The walk in

From 7 Fern Street the simplest route to the festival's northern edge is south along the beach or the Oceanway. **Broadbeach is 450 metres** down the coast, around six minutes on flat ground. Cross to the foreshore path, follow it south, and you walk straight into the Kurrawa Park stage area without crossing a road.

Inland, the **G:link** is the alternative. **Florida Gardens** station is 750 metres from the door (9 min walk); from there it's two stops south to **Broadbeach North**, the festival's official tram drop-off. End-to-end, about fifteen minutes from leaving the apartment to standing in front of the mall stage.

Walking is shorter than waiting for the tram. The tram earns its keep on a hot afternoon and on the late-evening run home when you're tired.

## The four stages worth knowing

The festival uses more than a dozen stages and venues, but four anchor the layout:

- **Kurrawa Big Top.** Main outdoor stage at the northern end of Kurrawa Park beside the surf life saving club. Mostly under cover, flat grass, mostly standing with picnic-rug edges. The closest stage to Marriner Views: six minutes down the beach, then a short turn inland.
- **Broadbeach Mall Stage.** On the pedestrianised mall on Victoria Avenue, opposite The Oasis. Concrete and seating, restaurants and bars on either side. Good for a long lunch with music in the background.
- **Surf Parade Stage.** Parallel street one block back from the beach, in the middle of the dining row. The natural choice for a Friday or Saturday after dinner.
- **Oracle Boulevard Stage.** Centre of the Oracle Boulevard mall area south of Victoria Avenue. Flat concrete, an unplugged-style program in past years, the stage closest to the southern edge of the precinct.

Beyond the four, the program runs across the suburb's pubs and venues including The Star Gold Coast at the southern end. The festival app is the right place for the per-day schedule by stage; in past years it has been the only place to see late changes.

## How the three days play out

- **Friday.** Soft start. Stages from late afternoon into the evening; line dancing on the Beach Deck. A quieter day if you want to wander Surf Parade and the mall before the weekend crowd arrives.
- **Saturday.** Headline day. All stages run, the precinct is busiest from late morning to late evening, and Saturday-night programming on Surf Parade typically draws the biggest crowds in the suburb.
- **Sunday.** Slow wrap. Bluegrass breakfast usually opens it; the festival closes out across all stages through the afternoon and evening, with the wrap party at one of the pub venues. The day for an early beach walk before settling into a stage for the afternoon.

The 2026 daily schedule with set times by stage is published on the [official festival site](https://groundwatercmf.com/) closer to the date.

## The booking case from this side of Broadbeach

Marriner Views sits between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, far enough north of the festival's southern stages that street-level noise stops at the apartment door, and close enough that the walk-in is shorter than most guests expect.

- Six minutes to Kurrawa Park; eight to the mall stage.
- **Complimentary undercover parking** included, one space per apartment, **2-metre clearance**. Leave the car for the weekend and walk.
- **Fully equipped kitchens.** A real Sunday breakfast on the balcony before the bluegrass set rather than queueing for a cafe table.
- **180-square-metre apartments**, two per floor, cross-breeze layout, private balcony. Spring nights with windows open and sea air through the apartment.
- **Heated saltwater pool at 26°C**, large heated spa, sauna, steam room. The right finish to a long day standing on grass.
- **Quiet hours from 9 pm.** A grown-up night's sleep between two big festival days.

A note on views: outlooks vary apartment to apartment. Floors **17 and above** have ocean views, with the 19th-floor 3-bedroom the headline ocean apartment. The first-floor 3-bedroom is pool-side without ocean views. Doesn't affect the festival weekend, but it's the recurring question.

## Book for festival weekend

**16 – 18 October 2026.** Check-in 2 to 5 pm; late check-in can be arranged in advance. Thursday-to-Monday sits cleanly against the schedule and gives you a slow Monday before the flight home, with the precinct dismantled and the suburb back to its usual pace.

[**Check availability and reserve your apartment**](/accommodation/index.md), or read more about the [3-bedroom ocean view](/accommodation/3-bedroom-ocean-apartment/index.md) (the 19th-floor headline apartment, room for a wider group) and the [2-bedroom superior](/accommodation/2-bedroom-superior-apartment/index.md) (right size for two couples or a couple with friends).
